The editorial team

The magazine articles are written by the Futures Nutrition team. We sell food supplements and we write about them — this is not an independent health portal, and we would rather say so up front than leave it out.

What we can offer instead: every figure in our texts can be looked up. We work from official sources and name them in the article, not only here.

What we base our articles on

  • Regulation (EU) No 432/2012 — the register of authorised health claims
  • Opinions of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA)
  • Maximum-level recommendations of the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR)
  • Reference values of the German Nutrition Society (DGE)
  • Food composition tables by Souci/Fachmann/Kraut
  • Labels, specifications and certificates of analysis from our suppliers

How we word things

Statements about the effect of a nutrient are taken verbatim from the EU register. A rewording would legally be a different claim — and usually a stronger one than the evidence supports.

For some substances there is no authorised claim. We say so rather than writing around it, and the article covers origin, forms, dosage and use instead.

What we do not do

We do not diagnose and we do not recommend treatment. Our texts are no substitute for talking to a doctor or pharmacist.

With existing conditions, during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and when taking medicines regularly, the question belongs there — not in a guide.

Food supplements are not a substitute for a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.
